“EVE5 came along just at the right time for Island Divers Hawaii.  We were using EVE4 regularly to organize daily boat charters at our first location. With our expansion to a second retail location in the marina, we were looking at a huge problem to get booking information from one store to another.  EVE5 completely eliminated that problem, allowing us to book dives at both locations and have updated results immediately available at both stores. Setup was ridiculously easy.  We changed from EVE4 to EVE5 and went to remote database literally overnight – 2 hours after closing and 2 hours before opening the next day. Since the database was now remotely located (remote hosting is optional; databases can be held in-store), I also started taking advantage of the fact that I could see how the shop sales and our charter bookings were doing from home.  Since EVE5 also tracks employee hours, I did my first payroll and monthly set of restocking orders at the house.   I took it one step further on the Mexican Riviera during our annual cave diving trip.  Since our wireless connection reached the beach, I was emailing employee’s encouragement and tasks based on the real time sales they were making while I was toes in the sand in the classic palm tree and umbrella drink pose.  We have yet to take advantage of a new possibility, remote booking from kiosks or by agents, but the mechanics are now in place.

EVE is also an incredible marketing tool if used to its full potential.  You know those “class interest” checkboxes that our student record sheets have?  If entered into EVE, you can email, snail-mail, text, etc a specific group with minimal effort.  Want to search your database for everyone with an Advanced cert but not a Rescue cert and then send them a custom email with name inserted at top?  Setting that up is a 1 minute task (you still have to write the email, maybe in EVE6?, J).  Contact everyone interested in a night diving course – no problem.  Everyone that did a boat dive in October – no problem.  Everyone with a birthday next month – no problem.  EVE5 makes it easy to do the marketing tasks that we all know we need to do to be over the top successful, but usually don’t get around to because of the time involved.

The ISSYS team asked me to write this article, which I am happy to do because I believe in the product.  For US$500 a year with free upgrades and all the features which I have only begun to mention here, if you are not using EVE what are you using and why?  I find it hard to believe that you are getting as much as you do from a program designed for PADI Dive Centers.  If that wasn’t enough, ISSYS are releasing EVE Online that will allow online sales in 2007.  With a click of a button you can go through your inventory of goods, classes, and dive trips and decide what to make available online.  We are not talking about looking to the future; we are talking about the present.  Did anyone shop for Christmas gifts online this year?

Just wanted to let you guys know how much EVE has helped our business!!  Its extremely easy to use, when I was training my employess on how to use it, I told them, " Just think of how you would want it to work, and what you think would be the next step, and thats how you use EVE."  Nobody has had a problem.  I dont want to say too many good things because I dont want my competition to know how much this program is helping our day to day business, but let me tell you........THIS POS ROCKS!!!!!  Keep up the great support and awesome program.....and dont worry, I will have more questions, and as always.....you will have answers.

In today’s rush to send support off shore you are bucking the trend. Thank you. You and your staff have been available late at night (Eastern Time) when I’m doing my bookwork not just during your “normal business hours”.
 
Your availability to solve problems and answer questions spanning the simple to complex is simply, “customer driven”. You listen and work with me and not just follow a scripted database response. This is so refreshing and appreciated, just saying thank you can not begin to express my satisfaction with you and you product.
 
The improvements you have made in Eve 5.0 are well worth the wait. It is a complete solution for dive shop management. It has simplified many of the tasks performed in a dive shop taking the dive business into the 21st century. The abilities to track your rental use and capture a complete maintenance history for your customers is just a couple of features I believe can help improve my business.

Southeastern Divers Inc. purchased EVE 5 at DEMA 2006.  We were not using EVE at the time and had been researching POS systems for the better part of a year.  After speaking with the ISSYS team at DEMA we were sold.  We stood in the ISSYS booth at DEMA and asked “will EVE do this” questions until we finally realized we needed to be asking “how does EVE do this” questions.  Upon returning from DEMA we immediately began looking at POS hardware and with the help of the ISSYS team very quickly made our decision and ordered hardware. 

Once the hardware arrived we began the task of installing EVE and making the hardware work.  With a little help from ISSYS this task was accomplished quickly and easily.  Now we faced the dreaded task of entering our inventory and student/customer data.  One phone call to PADI and the next day with a few key strokes our student data and customer data was in the system.  WOW!  Nothing can really be this easy.  Learning to use the import function in EVE proved simple and straight forward.  Now all we had to do was contact vendors for the data and off we went.  It was only a matter of a few days and we had over 95% of our data entered, all store inventory counted and in the system with min/max levels set and everything bar coded.

We went live with EVE on January 1, 2007.  If you had told me at DEMA that this could have been done this fast and easily I would have thought you were lying. 

Using EVE has proven to be as easy and intuitive as installing EVE was.  We discover a new feature or a better way to do things using EVE every day.  EVE addresses every aspect of operating a dive center on a day to day basis.  We are extremely pleased with how easy EVE is making many of the mundane day to day tasks of operating a dive center.  There are tasks that in the past we dreaded doing, that now with EVE we actually look forward to because they are so easy.

From inventory control, to service bookings, rental bookings, course scheduling and tracking to trip management, EVE can do it all. 

One worry we had with going with a brand new version of any software is the inevitable bugs and glitches that will be encountered.  We have experienced very few and they have been very minor.  Most have already been corrected with Service Pack 1.  EVE has proven to be a trouble free and stable piece of software.  When technical support has been needed the ISSYS team has been easy to contact and quick to respond.  (It is also obvious to me that these guys were smart enough to build a piece of software that would not need a lot of support.)

EVE is worth every bit of $500 a year.  The amount of money EVE will save our business will far exceed $500 a year.

I would recommend EVE 5 to any dive center considering installing or upgrading a computer system.  EVE is a great package at a great price.

I've been in Dive Retail business for over 20 years and have a computer background. I have never been satisfied with POS systems we've had to choose from until EVE was developed.  The conversion capabilities, the amount of information that can be easily accessed and exported and the future enhancements make EVE the choice for all PADI retailers.

I looked at the EVE system and I saw the great possibilities.  EVE is, by far, leagues better from a marketing prospective than any other system I have ever seen.  Opening a new scuba business, adopting EVE is a “no-brainer”, but to change from a system that I, and more importantly, my staff, had become comfortable with was a prospect I wasn’t initially ready to embrace. 
 
With the entry of Novomaris though, everything clicked for me. Not only would I have the most powerful POS system available, but it would be in an environment where the potential of system could explode.  The longer I waited to make the change the more it would cost me by not accessing the systems potential. I made the jump.
 
The first thing that Novomaris provides me is that I don’t have to worry about my backups or the security of my data.  It’s online all the time and backed up with security and routine that I could never achieve otherwise.  I couldn’t believe how easy it was to set it up and how seamless it is to operate.  It is as though it is on you own hard drive.  That’s the simple, even mundane part and it is cheaper than you can get it from anybody.
 
Second, I can get to my data and my store in real time from anywhere in the world from my laptop. WWWOOOWWW!
 
I can look at the day’s business and at every invoice of everyone that came into my store from the bar at Capt. Don’s.  I can send them an email thanking them for coming in that day and say I’m sorry for being in Bonaire and not being able to meet them in person. <grin> I can create a mail merge and send my best photo of the day to everyone on my “travel with me list” at that same time. If they came into the store and updated their email address that morning, then my email is going to the right place.
 
That sounds really exotic, but I can do all of that from my laptop from my home…my bedroom…
 
That’s what I can use it for today.  But …
 
Novomaris can give me an online presence that is amazing.  Bingo, there is an online shopping cart.  So you don’t want to sell gear online, ok, but why not trips and classes and T-Shirts?  Why not allow someone to buy their friend a birthday gift?  What about gift cards … Heck! That’s like printing money… Yours !!! 
 
What about integrating you web site so that when you change a class calendar it is also changed on your website?  ….Seriously! … in real time.  …and, yes, class schedules and trips and employee schedules and everything.  Change it in one place and it is everywhere!  How much time and would that save and the confusion factor…”:look at the website.”
 
How about birthday emails, personalized and mailed on the day with no input from you ?!?!  It just happens and they send you a thank you note that you respond to from Capt. Don’s saying “Wish you were here!”
 
How many of you have problems keeping your pricing up-to-date with the manufacturers?  What if when the manufacturers updated it’s pricelist it was immediately updated in your PO system, customer invoice system both on the web and in your store?  Newsletter list maintenance, entire website maintenance with up-to-date technology and graphics are all there.  The potentials that are there for you to plug into are phenomenal.
 
EVE is a program that has been built by divers for divers.  Well let’s qualify this .. I’m a “fall off the boat kind of guy” but these are folks are the kind of techies that live on the exploratory edge and just want to make it perfect.  Shoot, I’d trust these guys to pack your re-breather!  Seriously, I have been and continue to be impressed at how flexible and dynamic this system is.  Coupled with Novomaris and the myriad of services they can provide make this system one that every PADI Dive Center should actively embrace.
 
The marketplace is now in cyber space. Like it, don’t like it, but that’s where it is.  EVE coupled with Novomaris gives you the opportunity to be there with your current and future customers.  Don’t’ wait.  Get out in front of the curve.  
 
The future is for people who reach for it.  EVE and Novomaris are your tools for reaching the future that you want!

Abyss Scuba Diving has been using EVE for approximately 4 years now and we attribute our constant growth of in excess of 20% per annum in a large part to the ability of Eve to enable us to mine the data base which is created as a byproduct of running the business on a day to day basis. Sure Eve lets us easily handle point of sale transactions, rent dive equipment, manage trips and courses. But the data collected as we do these day to day activities enables us to understand and communicate with our customers with regards to those things which are important to them.

We have now been using EVE 5 for about 6 months and it has given us a quantum leap in how we communicate with our customers. EVE 5 enables us to better interrogate the data base and once we have that customer list it offers a range of options to communicate with them. The new popup feature enables us to remind the shop staff to raise topics with customers at the point of sale (remind them of trips, courses or items on sale, or even wish them a happy birthday). The ability to send emails, SMS, mail merge for snail mail and even use Skype enables us to vary our approach with customers and this range of approaches has yielded our best year ever in what ever way you wish to measure the business.

At Abyss Scuba Diving we were more than happy with EVE 4 and could not really understand the need to upgrade. But the change was simple, the staff training less than half a day and the results speak for themselves. We could not run our business without EVE

Wow!, the rewards of becoming an EVE user just get better and better.  Galaxsea Divers has just been notified by PADI International Ltd that we submitted the most Master Scuba Diver Challenge Applications in the PIL region for 2007. Our reward, free IRRA membership!  We were only able to achieve this success through the use of EVE’s powerful marketing tools which enabled us to target specific clients who would benefit from continuing education courses.  I would also like to thank you for your excellent support during the implementation of EVE and I look forward to another successful year with the EVE team and the launch of EVE online.  With ISSYS as our partners, and EVE working for us in our business we can only go from strength to strength.

For several years Eve sat on our counter in our store and was used as no more than a till. She was very nice, accurate and never spoke back –but like the view of all women, when there was an error, it was always the fault of the man - and she was always correct – it was.

 

Then along came EVE’s big sister and we decided it was time to make her earn her keep.

 

WOW – what a change – why did we wait so long?! We have a very busy dive school and shop. We run trips abroad and are involved with several underwater ventures locally.

 

All of a sudden planning was never easier; stock control has become so straightforward: course management is so organised: contact with customers so easy: reminders for staff so timely; trips can be organised with ease; enquiry follow-ups never missed; equipment control so accurate and reports and analysis so varied.  Even having started to use all of the facilities mentioned, there is still more available in the system that we have yet to embrace.

 

You can deduce therefore that using the new version has impacted on us in the most positive of ways and we wonder how we ever survived without it.

 

Initially, you have to put in the time and effort to set the system up to suit your own business. When that is completed we have been amazed at the extent of facilities and support that EVE offers – and delivers.

 

On top of this, there is the on-line and direct telephone support offered by the ISSYS team. This has been a real life-line.

 

From the smallest of questions to the biggest of ‘issues’ (and that is generally only our own interpretation of the issue) you get immediate, easy-to-understand solutions. The team – and especially Ian – give an outstandingly good service. If they need to work out a mini programme (process) to suit your individual requirements, they never fail to deliver.

 

Our experience so far has been very positive and productive. We would recommend EVE to all Dive stores / schools as there is something - and more - in EVE for everyone.

I have just had the pleasure of using the new EVE Assist Support System. Aberdeen Watersports has found this new support tool to be the most valuable piece of kit to be added to date to the EVE arsenal of customer support tools.
Over the years the team at ISSYS have looked for new and exciting ways to support customers who use the EVE Dive Centre Management system. Yet again ISSYS have surpassed themselves in looking out for the benefit of its EVE customers and the GoToMeeting tool is something I can see Aberdeen Watersports using time and time again.
The ability to see in real time ISSYS support team members manipulate your system as well as communicate with them over the telephone while this is happening on your own computer screen in front of your eyes is a real bonus to any forward thinking modern dive centre.
 
As always the team at ISSYS will look for new and interesting developments in Information Technology to ensure every EVE user gets the best support it could ever need.
