Our POS program EVE (Electronic Virtual Employee) has for a long time allowed receipts and other print outs to be saved as JPEG files.  We thought it was time to support PDF as well so we installed ABCpdf from webSupergoo. 
We added a reference to ABCpdf in our development program, Visual Studio, added 4 lines of code and literally within 10 minutes of installing the program we were creating PDFs of receipts, purchase orders, trip rostas, etc.  It couldn't have been easier. 
We definitely recommend ABCpdf for generating PDF documents.   Thank you webSupergoo!
